about

The pedal point in ‘The Living’ represents our heartbeats, and how it is constantly pumping through our lives until we die. We even at times forget that our heart is beating, since it isn’t a conscious effort. In the song, you may lose focus on the pedal point just as you may your heartbeat. When I hear a pedal point I feel a sense of anticipation, which I feel represents the living state as well, since we are always anticipated or looking forward to something.
